THIS WEEK'S BRIEF
"Agent" is the word every vendor is selling this year, and most of what you're hearing is hype. Here's the plain version: an agent is AI that acts. It takes steps, uses your tools, and finishes a task on its own. A chatbot answers when you ask. An agent goes and does. That shift changes your job. You're supervising actions now, and the work is catching a wrong move before it ships.
THE USE CASE
I run an AI agent. It copywrites and publishes content, triages my inbox, manages my calendar, and pulls research across a set of tools, mostly on its own.
Running one taught me where the real risk sits. Asked for a recap of my latest meeting, it pulled from two at once, the one I wanted and an older one with a nearly identical title, and had a clean, wrong draft ready before I looked. An agent will do the wrong version of a task confidently and fast, before you catch it. So I gate the work that carries my name or a client's: the agent drafts, I approve. The low-stakes, reversible work runs on its own. The line I hold is anything that's hard to walk back.
What I'd tell my earlier self: decide what the agent can't touch before you switch it on, while the stakes are still hypothetical.
THE PROMPT (members only)
The full agent oversight prompt is for CoS Signal members, along with the prompt library and everything else members get. Founding rate is locked at $14.99/month or $99/year.
THE SIGNAL
Agents are moving faster than the guardrails. Gartner predicts that by 2027, governance failures will push 40% of enterprises to scale back or shut down autonomous agents they'd deployed, done in by runaway costs, unclear value, and agents acting outside policy. The capability is here, and the oversight is still catching up. Closing that gap is the Chief of Staff's job. (CIO, 2026)
Head’s up, this one’s an ad.
Own Search With Podcasts
Your competitors are fighting over the same keywords. The smartest brands are building the authority that search engines, AI platforms, and customers trust everywhere.
Every relevant podcast appearance can produce branded mentions, backlinks, transcripts, citations, clips, expert content, and third-party proof that keeps compounding across search and AI discovery.
PodPitch searches millions of podcasts, finds the shows that matter to your market, develops the angle, sends personalized pitches, and follows up automatically until your experts are booked.
Growth teams are already using podcast appearances to build distributed authority that cannot be manufactured by publishing another generic SEO article.
Only 20 SEO, AEO, and GEO demo spots are available this month. Once they’re claimed, the offer disappears.
Start building searchable authority now, before your competitors own the conversations shaping your market.

ONE MORE THING
This is part 3 of 4 on managing the AI you didn't hire. You found it, you got people using it, and now it acts on its own. Next week closes the arc with the piece none of this runs without: your judgment. If you do one thing this week, pick one task you'd trust an agent with and one you wouldn't, and get clear on why. That line is the job.
Reply and tell me the one task you'd never hand an agent. I read every one.
Until next week,
Stephanie
